Tests for acetylene applications

Acetylene is a very unstable fuel gas, particularly at high temperatures where it decomposes to form hydrogen.

Our scope

Component testing for acetylene applications is essential to understand and prevent ignition and explosion hazards.

What is the objective? Checking the resistance of the components to acetylene use to ensure the safety of the user !

Which acetylene component tests are available at CTE ?

Decomposition tests carried out on valves, regulators, hoses, etc.

Our tests are mainly carried out according to ISO 15615 standard.

How are the acetylene tests performed ?

The tests are carried out up to an acetylene pressure of 25 bar.

  • The decomposition of the acetylene is triggered and the resistance of the component to this decomposition is checked.
  • A leak test is carried out before and after the decomposition test.

Our tests are carried out in an underground room to protect staff.

Our failure analysis activities

Oxygen failures, mechanical failures, lifetime of methane steam reformer tubes, etc.
