Oxygen safety
Oxygen safety tests are essential to understand and prevent ignition risks.
What we do
Some materials are susceptible to ignition or oxidation in oxygen-enriched environments. An ignition resistance test must be carried out before any component or material is introduced into an oxygen system.
Air Liquide CTE assesses the risk factors associated with oxygen.
What is our objective? To secure the design of equipment and material selection to avoid incidents and accidents.
Our oxygen safety tests
-
Pressure surge test (or adiabatic compression test)
Find out moreWe check the resistance to adiabatic compression.
CTE performs tests on equipment and materials in contact with oxygen, up to a pressure of 600 bar.
-
Auto-ignition temperature
Find out moreWe determine the temperature at which a liquid or solid material begins to ignite in a reaction chamber under oxygen pressure.
CTE performs the auto-ignition temperature test on non-metallic materials.
-
Compatibility with liquid oxygen
Find out moreWe evaluate how materials behave upon contact with liquid oxygen.
CTE performs mechanical impacts on a material immersed in liquid oxygen to see if a reaction (spark, detonation, etc.) occurs.
Our failure analysis activities
Oxygen failures, mechanical failures, lifetime of methane steam reformer tubes, etc.
