Adiabatic compression

Objectives

Eliminate the risk of ignition and ensure the safety of users.

Adiabatic compression mechanism

The rapid compression of a gas generates heat.

This heat, generated within a component, can lead to its ignition.

What does the pressure surge test (adiabatic compression test) involve?

Our technicians subject a component to a very rapid increase in oxygen pressure over 20 cycles.

A visual inspection allows to verify whether combustion has occurred externally or internally.

Which pressure surge tests does CTE offer?

CTE performs tests on equipment in contact with oxygen up to a pressure of 600 bar, according to standard NF EN ISO 11114-6.

Testing standards

Our failure analysis activities

Oxygen failures, mechanical failures, lifetime of methane steam reformer tubes, etc.
